Profile

Dr. Rajaonarison teaches Political Economy at the International College of Liberal Arts at Yamanashi Gakuin University. He previously taught at several Japanese universities, including Doshisha University, Kyoto University, and Ritsumeikan University. His previous research concentrated on the New Political Economy of Agriculture and Food Security in Sub-Saharan Africa. In recent years, he has developed a keen interest in the political economy of middle-power engagements in the southwestern Indian Ocean region and the disruptions they cause. Dr. Rajaonarison also has wide-ranging experience with projects in Madagascar funded by Japanese development assistance.
